If privacy, wide open spaces, and country living are your top priorities, Hazelmere may be the right place to find your next home. Located south of Surry and adjacent to the Canada/US Border, this quiet community enjoys the benefits of country living, with all the necessary amenities just a short drive away. Langley is about 15 minutes to the north, and Abbotsford lies about 30 minutes to the east. Driving through Hazelmere, you almost forget that you are in the lower mainland. Miles of farmland and fields make you feel like you are off the beaten path, traveling through interior BC.

Although it is less populated than some of its neighbouring communities, Hazelmere was actually one of the first areas in South Surrey were the pioneers established themselves. The Campbell River was used as a convenient access route for trading furs and transporting produce and other goods to Vancouver Island. To this day, Hazelmere still maintains its traditional farming roots. There are several dairy farms, and because of the balmy climate, blueberry farming is also popular in the area.

The nearby Campbell Valley Regional Park is truly a nature lover’s paradise. The park is maintained by the Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Board. There are over 29 kilometers of trails, 14km of which are designated for equestrian use. Hikers and cyclists also frequent this park to enjoy its natural beauty. An interesting piece of local history can be found within the Campbell Valley Park. If you follow the trail through a grassy meadow, you will come across the old Langley Speedway. From the mid 60’s until the 80’s, this track was used to host car races. Several NASCAR events also took place here.
