It’s always nice to see some green space that has withstood the test of time long after a city has built up around it. Green Timbers Urban Forest is a perfect example of nature within the city. Spanning approximately 452 acres, Green Timbers is one of the largest parks in Surrey. Green Timbers Lake can be found in the center of the park and is a favorite place for local fishing enthusiasts. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout and provides a unique fishing experience within the city. The Freshwater Fisheries of BC organization has created a “Learn to Fish” program that is held every spring and fall at the lake. Equipment and lessons are available for kids and adults who want to learn more about this fun recreational sport.
